More than
Just metal or
Wood it is the
Crew and even
Passengers all of
Them together make
A ship sentient a fact too
Obvious not to be remarked
On for millennia and when great
Ships head out across the solar
System then the Galaxy those
Ships will be sentient aware
Of what they are good or
Bad depending on the
Collective spirit of a
Ship and if the ship
Has human-like
Qualities it is
Because we
Are part of
The ship
As any
Who
Have sailed
In a great ship can
Tell you when they relate
Some incident onboard alone
Or among others where the
Ship communicates with
That person in some
Way making them
Aware the ship
Senses them
For what
Ever the
Need.
Easy to
Mock and
Scorn this but
So many things
In life are more than
Mathematics and formulas,
Something we describe as an art
Rather than as a science so
Call it a hunch but know
It is just so with hitting
A baseball where
You cannot think
Hitting the ball
But you can
Just swing
And hit by
Feelings.
Just so
With a
Ship.
