Mock Turtle

To mock
Is to cast
Doubt on a
Thing puffed
Up in false pride.
So, well done if not
Aimed to hurt those
Innocent of pretension,
If we mock just for the sake
Of being cool to doubt anything
Our elders might hold dear is
Simple juvenile acting out
And best ignored or else
Corrected gently as all
Such mocking is too
Obviously a cry for
Attention by the
Mocker a sort
Of editorial
Comment
Akin to
Break
Dancing
In spinning
Truth to match
Our own prejudices,
With apologies to
Mock turtle soup
But it seems as
If brains and
Hooves are
A poor
Substitute
For green turtle
Soup though the two
Are close in consistency
And taste. Just so with
Mocking as opposed
To positive criticism
But who cares
Unless you
Are the
Turtle
Mocked.
