Poncho
I lie in bed
Listening to the
Rainfall outside and
Remembering the
Rain pelt my old
Poncho on the
Mountainside
Trails of the
Gila in the
Wilderness
Knowing before
Dusk set in I’d have
To make camp set up
The tent eat then put
My wet poncho over
My tent flap and
My wet boots
Into a plastic
Bag by my
Bedroll
All the
Time listening
To the rainfall glad
For the shelter and
My flashlight to
Read a few
Chapters
Light off
Listen
To the rain.
