Blake’s poem
Keeps coming to mind,
“When Eve wove
And Adam span,
Who then was
A Gentleman?”
About the nature
Of a society divided
By class into gentlemen
And players two classes a
Dialect apart not what we have
In America where we divide by
Race and ethnicity not class
A hotel society where cash
Buys anything even truth
By repetition on a media
Of half-truths repeated
All so the rich do not
Have to pay taxes
And the middle
Class must do
The paying
Unless a
Time is
Now
To limit
By taxes
Incomes over
Ten times the poverty
Level plus a five percent
Assets tax per annum on estates
Over a million dollars plus a
Limit on taxes under the
Poverty level to ten per
Cent of income all so
We can once again
Live in a society of
Egalitarianism so
Much closer to
What Jesus
Showed us
By beating
Money
Changers
Out of the Temple
And confronting the rich
With their responsibility to those
Who are less well off than
Themselves which
Means both
You and
Me.
