Bruise

I am fiftyish
Suddenly standing
Up in a cinema hearing
What sounds like a tendon
Snapping feeling a sudden pain
On both my lower legs so I hobble
To my car drive home and a few
Days later am standing in my
Doctor’s office telling him
I have a really big bruise
So the Doc says drop
Your pants and let’s
See this really big
Bruise so I drop
My khaki pants
And the Doc
Gasps OMG
To which I
Respond,
“You
Know
Doc, when
A patient shows
Their Doc a bruise
And he says oh my God
It makes a person nervous.”
The Doc laughs and says
That really is a big bruise
Telling me I’ve snapped
Both tendons from
Sole to buttocks
But not to fret
As this does
Happen as
We age
But
Not both
At once so
Just take it a
Bit slower and
The bruise will heal.
Next time you take a
Problem to your Doc just
Don’t add the word really to it.
