Verbose

One of the
Problems in
Getting old is
To find oneself
Verbose when an
Alert silence would be
Better and likewise being
Silent when family and friends
Phone to chat failing to keep
Up our end of the talk in a
Pleasant conversation
A fact I only realize
After my verbosity
Scatters a group
Or my silence
Causes a bit
Of anxiety
On the
Other
End by the
Phone caller
So my defense
Is to plead senior
Moment but in truth
I kinda think you may
Expect such things from
Those of us around 75 or
More so do not be too
Offended not that
We will likely be
Remembering
Much if any
Of what
Is said
But
Still enjoy
Saying and
Hearing it with
Family and friends
Like the census taker
I talked with for an hour
Or the political vote-getter
I kept on the line till they said
Please let them go which
I did after reading just
A few more folios
Of my poems
To them
With
Editorial
