Opera
I am ten
At the Muni
Open-air theatre
In St. Louis Forest Park
Watching some musical my
Mother wants to see and I
Have borrowed her opera
Glasses to peer at all the
Actors on the stage as
They play their parts
Fascinated at the
Panorama I can
See on the far
Away stage
Until my
Little
Sister wants
Her turn with the
Opera glasses both
Of us wise to the propellor
Blade fans above on poles to
Cool the place at intermission
Knowing the seats do not rise into
The air no longer afraid we might
Fall off if we wondered too far
Children accustomed to art
Music and the theatre we
Are just beginning to
Explore literature
And still happy
With peanut
Butter and
Jelly on
White
Bread or
Skip the jelly
And add bacon
And iceberg lettuce
As we are ignorant of
Almost everything
But love to go
To the Muni
For light
Opera
If we
Can
Use the
Opera glasses.
