Weekend

One day
When this
Pandemic is
Past we will look
Back at 2020 as the
Long weekend that never
Stopped when we were held
Restricted to a narrower existence
By the need to isolate wear masks
Social distance and worst of all
Be a family again together in
Our home missing our prior
Time and I think we have
Done a good job mostly
In our confinement not
Making this long week
End into one too long
Thanksgiving dinner
Of acrimony barbs
Table food fights
As we have had
To reconnect
As a family
Either in
One
Home or
Several texting
Chatting finding a
Way to keep busy and
For those brave souls who
Worked with the public as care
Givers or essential services
Providers you are heroes
Of America and must
Never be forgotten.
You risked your
Life to keep
Things on
Track in
Hard
Times so
I hope you will
Be the first to get
A safe vaccine when
One is found and during
This long weekend I pray
We all remember your
Service to America
With donatives
To keep you
Safe from
Poverty.
Once
Each week
I deliver a box
Of oatmeal raisin
Cookies to the security
Office and I think they like it.
