Trees

This place
Shaded by the
Magnolia and oak
Pecan and the pine
Emerges from morning
Myst to brilliant afternoon
Until the shadows lengthen
Dark brings moonlight starlight
All the while the trees watch
With a patience we can
Only admire stoic as
Time beats to a
Wooden heart
But alive and
Sentient yet
Silent only
If we do
Not yet
Listen.
