Boat

I am 47
At the coast
With family who
Want to shop so I say
Go ahead and I’ll take a
Sail on the Wharfcat a fishing
Boat onto the Gulf for the day just
To see what a boat rather than a
Ship feels like at sea so as we
Chug out of harbor still safe
Behind the jetty a lady all
In white pants blouse a
Cute hat with a blue
Scarf is along to
Keep an eye on
Her husband
Who is out
To fish so
As we
Pass
Outside
The jetty
The boat hits
A wave drenching
The lady in white who
Asks the crew to turn the
Boat around as this is just
Too tough but they laugh and
Give her a bucket which she holds
Between her knees as she sits on
The deck losing her breakfast
And turning green with sea
Sickness for the next ten
Hours of what seems to
Me pretty rough seas
Much different from
A big ship and not
A pleasure ride
For any but a
Fisherman
Serious
About
Fishing.
When we
Dock back
In Corpus the
Lady in white is
Cheered as she
Wobbles down the
Gangplank off the boat.
I mused wobbling ashore
If you can’t run with the big
Dogs it is better to sit on the
Porch as eventually everything
Does come down the road in time.
