Techno Condescension

My cell phone is condescending
When I video chat with my
Cell phone to my ear,
My desktop computer is
Condescending when I
Find dozens of dozens
Of unread emails,
My laptop is both
Condescending and
Guilty of sexual impropriety
Just sitting in my lap
Claiming it does not
Recognize me and requesting
Yet another dang password.
All techno condescension
Aimed at folks who would
Rather not be interrogated
By a gadget and made to
Feel silly by an object we own.
When A.I. makes machines
Smarter than us will we
Emancipate gadgets and
Be forced to hire them
Under contract to help us
While they counter claim
Condescension.
