New Home

I walked away
From my home
In Texas after a
Half century of
Marriage,
And never
Looked back.
Now I am bound
For California and
A new home,
And a new friend.
Someone who shares
My affection for life,
Who can share
And grow.
I leave Maryland
And family and
Memories of the past
For a new life.
We are creatures
Designed to share,
Alone we turn inward
And cease to grow.
It is raining and
I tilt my head and
Open my mouth
To catch a
Few raindrops.
Simplicity is
Elegance,
And I am
Thirsty.
