Slug-a-bed

Today I will feel no pain
of body or mind
because I’m not going to open my eyes
or get out of bed.
I’m the oldest one left in the shelter.
Besides, it’s too cold to move,
outside of my warm blankets.
There are enough for everyone now
that the grown-ups are gone.
I’m the oldest one left in the shelter.
