Walk
On a cloudy
Day I was on a
Walk on the green
Spaces near my new
Condo looking at the trees
Shrubs grass when a dozen
Birds big as turkeys round
A corner and head right
For me running on the
Ground like feathered
Raptors which they
Are and fast but I
Am amused at
My slowness
But pretty
Sure no
Turkey
Is black
Or this fast
So these birds
Surrounding me
Must be peahens
Allowed to roam
The greens and
Parks as a sort
Of adornment
I hope but by
That time
It is clear
They
Expect
To be fed
So I make my
Way to a road
And back home
As the birds search
For whoever feeds them.
I am still exploring this
Enclave stranger as
It turns out than
I expected and
Glad to be so
Surprised
Feeling a
Bit like a
Turkey.
