Fall

I fell today
Just after posting
The Scammer poem mid
Morning as I stood up from
Bed I forgot to secure my right
Leg prosthetic stepped forward
On my left foot orthotic boot
Lifted up my right leg slid
Out of the prosthetic I
Fell forward onto my
Right side rolling on
To my back hitting
My head on the
Floor tile a sort
Of plonk sound
And the first
Thing that
Occurred
To me
Was
The Bruce
Willis line from
One of his later films
When he falls and says,
“That’s gonna hurt.”
But not right away
So I climbed up
Secured leg
Stood up
Having
Already felt
For anything that
Might be sticking out
But finding none I ate my
Breakfast of cereal then drove
To the clubhouse for a cup of
Fruit and ice tea then went
Grocery shopping and
Home put away the
Groceries and I
Noticed my
Right side
Hurt so
I took
A nap but
Could not sleep
So I wrote this poem
And now I’ll try a nap
Again having muted
The phone and as
I drift off to sleep
I am thinking
Funny my
Head is
OK but
Must
Be like
Bouncing
A basketball.
