Real I

For fifty years
Teaching and later
Lecturing I tried to urge
Students and folks to get real.
We are a sack of fluids in a
Skin held up by bone and
Muscle, make a hole in
Us we flow out red so
Try and avoid that.
We see what we
Want to see
Hear what
We want
To hear
And
Only get
Real when
Necessary by
Circumstances
Which means most
Of us do not want to
Step back and see reality
Unless something gets our
Attention which is the case
In this November election.
Some of my friends said
President Obama was
Not their President,
I am not so stupid
So let me say my
President Trump
Is a hole in the
Body politic
Many of my
Friends do
Not see
Or hear
But it
Will
Cause
Trouble
Unless we
Get real and
Vote him out.
Then tell the new
President to get real.
Stop blathering nonsense
About defunding police stop
Rioting vandalism and arson by
Shooting folks who do those
Things to encourage them
To get real and stop the
Temper tantrum
Protests over
Fake issues
As all lives
Matter
And
Get real.
Oh! You don’t
Agree with some
Aspect of my little
Poem? Then get real.
Our President Trump
Has bad character,
Lay down with
Dogs you get
Up with
Fleas.
