Dog

The dog
Knows me
At first sniff
Knows I am a
Friend at just a
Glance and a lick
Wagging his tail the
Dog has made a friend
And so have I honor bound
Never to betray that bond
Of human canine trust
Always remembered
Like Ulysses’ dog
Knew him when
No one else
Had a clue
Until he
Strung
His
Bow to
Prick their
Memories of old
Only his dog knew
Him so I muse humans
Must have the same ability
As some people we instantly feel
Relaxed around but others we
Are reticent to trust but in
Either case we first
Must meet them
Face to a face
Pheromones
Do not hide
Behind a
Mask
Though
The wagging
Tail can fool you.
