Red

I have
Fallen in
Love with
Rosie the red
Dog whom I will
Miss when I go to
Texas to live this week.
She has soulful eyes hoping
For a snack and does from time
To time nip a kid or teen or an old
Grouch if they move too fast around
Her but she is also loving and as
Expected loyal so each morn
And night when I feed her
I say as I have with all
The doggiewogs I’ve
Fed, the pack runs
The pack hunts
The pack
Eats.
How is
It possible
To feel such
Emotion for a
Red dog is beyond
My comprehension as
I grew up to regard dogs
As tools for hunting guarding
Never let in the house but
Useful and worth their
Upkeep which I think
Is how I see people
Though in some
Cases I find my
Self loving
Always.
Yet
I feel
No such
Hate toward
Any as it is not
Worth the effort
To carry a grudge.
Better to forgive and
Move on with our life.
Bitter is the taste of
Choice for some
But I still prefer
Sweet though
Subtler as
I age.
Rage was a
Luxury I dreamed
Of but found too dear.
Books were always
My friends in
Solitude so
Missing
Rosie
I’ll read
And study
History games
While musing about
Those I’ve loved,
Aware the
Future
Waits
For
Us.
