Liz
Her name
Was Liz and
She was more
Than attractive.
She came to work
In our office eager to
Learn about our complex
Job of numbers and estimates
Forecasting traffic and she brought
A sense of humor brightening our
Routine making each day fun.
When someone tried to be
Pretentious she would
Say, “Well, Mother
Pin a rose on
Me” and on
A Friday
At the
End
Of a long
Week she would
Say, “Let’s make like
The wind and blow this
Pop stand” an expected
Break from the concentration
Of numbers and trying not
To saw off the tree limb
We were sitting on but
Best of all was the
Friday lunch at
A Mexican or
Chinese or
Burger
Cafe.
Sharing
A meal with
Co-workers relaxed
And sometimes an evening
Meal with our spouses who got
A chance to see who we had been
Talking about all week happy
To show off our mates
Talk about our kids
Breathe deep.
Such workplace
Friends allow us to
Smile and reminisce
About our work family
Decades after still
Fond of the place
We worked at
And office
Friends.
