Time now
To choose lives
Or the economy,
Shelter in place or
A return to normalcy
Like Warren Harding 1920
And let the chips fall where
They may not a tough choice
If you value the stock market not
Those who will not survive the
Scarcity of ventilators masks
Gloves etc. so here we have
A clear choice to make as
A society to chose either
A return to normalcy
Or an unpleasant
Few months of
Isolating in
Place kids
Or other
Under
Foot
But
A few
Thousand
Lives saved.
National character
Is what we do when in
A grim crisis, when doing the
Right thing is most unpleasant.
The current hand on the tiller
Of the ship of state has just
Urged a return to normalcy
At the cost of thousands
Of lives and the Texas
Lt. Governor has
Eagerly agreed
With, so now
Let’s see
What
Texans put
First: our elders
Respiratory cases
Or our jobs & savings.
Wallah, wallah little
Sister, breathe
Deep the
Freedom
To choose both.
Set free those most
Likely to be OK but keep
The most vulnerable sheltered.
