Raised in southern Illinois

Using humor to deflect anger
Moving folks with a funny story,
Does that not remind you of Jesus
Who must have gently guided his
Disciples with a story as he did
The crowds seeking to water
Common sense on life but
Headed for martyrdom
Aware of what was
Coming unafraid
Knowing it was
A step in the
Right way
Resigned
To what
His followers
Would do in his
Name hoping the
Two steps forward
Warranted the one back.
