Faces
Each face on
The train is unique
Caucasian Negro Asian
American Indian all pass
By me some oblivious some
Look back at me some stop and
Talk two strangers on a train
In the night converse about
Life where we are going to
Or from each face has a
Story all together here
And elsewhere about
Over 300 million or
So American tales
Each of interest
At least to the
Teller and I
Meet this
One Ann
Who is
Going
To San Diego
With her true love
Mike who is lost on the
Train but she is sure he is
Looking for her so she stops
Sits and reveals to me her
Raisin d’etre in life is to
Be a dancer so I ask
What kind classical
Or modern ballet
Or improv and
She says strip
Dancer but
Really just
Modern
I wish
Her
Good
Luck as
Break a leg
Is too theatrical
But she is off again
On the virtues of being
A vegan to which I reply
That I am a pagan but
Get no reaction other
Than her harangue
On dance and her
Favorite veggies
When I see a
Young man
Coming up
The aisle
Toward
Me
Until
He sees
Her talking
To me and smiles
Then turns around to
Go back where he came
From and I know this is
Her missing friend
Hiding from her
And I wonder
How she
Might
Be made
More interesting
But that would take
Many years of college
And I do not think she
Has the patience grit
Or concentration to
Read enough to be
A good person to
Talk to though if
She listened or
Asked from
Time to
Time
It might help
But she is young
And trained to think
Anything she says is of
Interest but I suppose
Her friend hiding in
The dark on the
Train is not any
Worse except
Devoid of
Ambition
Having
Been
Taught
He no longer
Has worth because
He is a male in America
And as I write this I am
Wondering if I am OK
To say what I know
To be true in our
Colleges the
Last half
Century
That by
Lifting woman
Up it has resulted
In lowering young mens’
Self-esteem which I admit
As can be seen by young men
Wearing a baseball cap backwards
In an attempt to show innocence
Coupled with enthusiasm as
The abused child tends to
Gravitate toward the
Abusing parent
In this case
Women
So
When
You ask
Why so many
Voted for Trump
It was because Hillary
Did not think them worthy
In her new vision of America
Where she could turn the
Red white and blue
Into the rose
Ivory and
Teal.
