Prints

I am in my
Late 20s and
Should be more
Mature but I am a
Kid at heart so when
I rise early to a fresh fall
Of snow before my three kids
Awake I tie cardboard footprints
To my shoes and make prints
Walking backwards from
Our front door down
The walk to the
Sidewalk then
To an open
Place and
Take off
The
Cardboard
Bare feet from
My shoes and walk
Carefully back to the
Front door then wake up
My three sons who quickly
Discover the prints wondering
Who left our house barefoot with
Giant feet and where did the
Barefoot guy go leaving
No prints which only
Worked because
They are all
Still young
Enough
To be
Amazed
By the little
Mysteries of life
That make us smile.
It took them several minutes
To figure out what I had done and
Leave similar mysteries all over
The yard then the house until
Their Mom says OK, enough.
It has taken me another
Half century to begin
To wonder whose
Prints amaze
Me each
Day.
