Hubris Dos

The ancient Greeks
Warned of hubris or
Overweening pride we
Would call believing our
Own boloney in terms of
Politics or religion or love.
The old Greeks sought logic
And rational objective views
And plans over passionate faith
In our own view of reality too often
Skewed though regrettably war
Is one of the few human past
Times that cure illusions as
In the Italian journalist
Rossi who said that
Fascism is like
“A completely
Successful
Operation
Where
The
Patient
Dies and
All of their
Illusions are
Removed” much
Like the 2016 election
If we have indeed learned
That lesson that hubris
Has an enchantingly
Appealing allure
To the faithful
But battle
Soon
Puts
An end
To wishful
Thinking.
