Struggle

New

Tonight as I try
To snuggle down
Under my top sheet
And blue summer cotton
Blanket the struggle begins
Between Ellie the black and white
Cat who wants to get between my
Compromisa and myself while
Red dog Rosie wants to lie
Across our feet slowly
Slyly shifting onto my
Side of the bed up
Against my ankle
As I try to roll
Over hour by
Hour all
Night
Trying to
Get
Comfy
Longing for
A bi-polar bed
Where rest does
Not include hisses
And growls as the
Cat and dog are
Like matter and
Anti-matter &
There is no
Sudden
Race
Down the
Stairs feline
Always winning
Over canine but too
Noisy to ignore as
The stars and a
Moon shine
Through
The
Pine boughs
In a gentle breeze.
Oh! And Benny the other
Black and white cat talks to
Me in the night urging me
To get him a milk snack
Which I ignore until by
5:45 am insisting on
Said snack and
Right away or
Feline talk
Will not
Stop
All
Of which
My companion
In our compromiso
Sleeps through in her
Dreams mumbling
Conversations to
Which I am
Not privy
But let
Me
Smile.
