For those who played
By the rules worked a
Middle-class life on time
Each day for many decades,
The rewards are surprisingly
Good in terms of options
Available when age, illness or
Injury surprise us unawares.
For those who enjoyed their
Independence from the routine
Of daily labor and achieving
A higher level education by work
And the worry of student loans,
The help they get being poorly
Insured is a disappointment.
Perseverance pays off when
Our habits of endurance kick
In to get us through what can
Not be floated or skimmed across.
Good work habits actually pay off.
Though, my aunt said
The only successful
Grasshoppers
Have an ant
Behind
Them.

Love funny.
