D-Day Game
I am 12 on Christmas morning,
In nine days I will be 13 and
I am thrilled to open a
Present and find a military
History game, D-Day, with
A map of Western Europe
Depicting the logistical port
Capabilities and the military
Geography along with an
Order of battle for the units
Involved in the campaign.
Though later in life I will
Look for companions I am
Focused now solely on campaigns,
I set the game up and study
The best possible defense and offense for each side and am
Eager to beat someone soon.
I have not stopped playing war
Games and studying military
History since Tactics II in 1959.
This new game will fill my
Leisure hours for years to come,
Other games come along but
D-Day seems to hold a special
Place, later I will write a PhD
Dissertation on the subject
Of invasion in the West 1940 to 1943, the Anglo-American
Alliance and strategies
In conflict.
How strange such a simple
Christmas gift will have
Such repercussions,
A chemistry set
Might have
Made me
A chemist.
But I doubt it,
My mind was made
Up at eight to study
Wars, mythology
And history.
Be careful what
You give your child
To play with as
It may come
Back to
Haunt
You.
