Night II
The nighttime is
The kingdom
Of shadows,
Electro light shadows,
Moonlight shadows,
And star shadows.
Each more delicate
Than the last.
We drive into
The desert,
Far from the
Glare of humanity,
Until we watch
The moon set,
And behold the
Majesty of the
Milky Way from
One of its’
Spiral arms,
Looking back
Toward the center.
We share the memory
Of our experience,
Huddled together
Under a blanket.
We do not feel
Insignificant,
But rather a part
Of the Cosmos.
We drive back
To our room,
And climb into
Bed together,
We are our own
Smaller spiral galaxy,
As we lavish first our
Affection and then
Our passion
On one another.
Then lie together
and talk
Of this or that,
Embrace and
Go to sleep.

Was never
This much
Fun.
