Winter
The winter wind
Outside is cold,
It moves the drapes
In the apartment.
I snuggle into
My blanket,
Sitting in my chair.
I am healing a
Foot wound and
Will be here for
January and
February,
Keeping it
Elevated,
Using a push
Scooter to move.
More snow is
Coming and I must
Get to the car in a
Parking lot for
Doctor’s visits,
My daughter in law
helps me,
I would be lost
Without her help.
I will be alone here
In late January
And early February,
Relying on the
Kindness of family
And friends for
Supplies and rides.
And the wind
Howls a wintering
Lament and I
Heal my wound
And think of
Better times
And count
Myself
Lucky.
