Birds in a Painting

The birds in this painting
are not like Van Gogh’s,
there is no menace in them.
Or, perhaps the menace
like the beauty of anything
is in the eye of the beholder.
In the deep woods
Of the heart,
Beauty shines out
A light in the dark.
How can I not
Reach out
And
Touch.
